Unlimited data bundles: Our speed caps explained

At Asda mobile, we have a huge range of bundles on offer, from £5 to £30 depending on how much data you need. If you pick up one of our unlimited data bundles, you’ll have a speed cap on your usage. Find out more about what this means for you as a new or existing Asda mobile customer.

What is a speed cap?

A speed cap is the maximum speed that your devices can upload and download data whilst connected to the internet. This is measured in megabits per second (Mbps). The higher the Mbps, the faster the connection speed.

When you use your 3G, 4G, or 5G whilst out and about, you’ll notice how fast or slow your smartphone completes tasks, like refreshing emails, loading a webpage, or displaying images on social media. If your network has a particularly low speed cap, then it may take longer to load pages, as it’s being limited on how fast it can function. On the other hand, if your network offers a higher speed cap, you won’t have as much difficulty using your smartphone, as the data cap is higher than the demand of the task.

Our unlimited data bundles speed caps

At Asda mobile, we have three unlimited data bundles for you to choose from. Each one has a different speed cap, so you can choose the right bundle based on how fast you need your connection to be.

Which unlimited data bundle is right for you?

We offer three different unlimited data bundles so you can pick the perfect package for you. Not everyone cares about super speeds, whilst others get frustrated by waiting around for things to load.

Different activities use up different amounts of data, and some more heavy-handed tasks will require faster connection speeds to work, such as playing a video.

So which of our unlimited data bundles is right for you?

£20 unlimited bundle - great for casual users

With a speed cap of 2Mbps, the £20 unlimited bundle is best suited for casual users, who mostly use their smartphone for interacting on social media, messaging online, sending and receiving emails, and general web browsing.

£25 unlimited bundle - great for media consumers

For £5 extra, your speed cap extends up to 10Mbps. This sort of speed is most ideal for media consumers. So if you like to stream video or audio, such as music, podcasts or the radio, then this would be the best bundle for you to avoid buffering and download issues.

£30 unlimited bundle - great for online gamers & film fanatics

For £30, this unlimited bundle has speeds of up to 150Mbps, a considerable increase from our other two. With this speed cap, you can easily play online games or download and watch films from the likes of Netflix without any lag or stuttering issues. The speed cap is high enough to easily support these heavy-data activities.

Other Asda mobile bundles

If you don’t want an unlimited bundle, we still have a large range of monthly bundles with varying data allowances on offer. These don’t have a speed cap, but you’ll have to watch how much data you’re using!
