The Alcatel OneTouch 10.16G is the ideal mobile phone for anyone who wants the essentials but doesn’t want to spend a large amount of money. The mobile phone is priced for anyone, making it accessible to everyone, and it makes the ideal personal treat or gift for a loved one.
OneTouch 10.16G design
The design is reminiscent of a time when things were rather more simple and straightforward. The phone features a nicely spaced alpha-numeric keypad sitting below a colour screen, and the green “call” and red “end call” buttons are large and visible. Operating it couldn’t be easier!
Above these two buttons are two action keys. These always relate to the action shown above them on the screen. When the phone is turned on, the initial two options are to enter the menu or to open the contacts book, where you can store an almost infinite amount of telephone numbers.
The Alcatel OneTouch 10.16G has a polycarbonate body and because it doesn’t have an oversized width, like many phones have, it is really easy to get a secure grip and hold. There is a smooth curve as the back casing transitions towards the front, ensuring that no sharp edges dig into your palm.
The mobile phone is a little thicker than most smartphones, at 12.55mm thick, but because the phone isn’t as wide, this thickness feels just about right. And at only 63g, the phone is as light as a feather and won’t add any uncomfortable weight to your pocket, bag or purse.
OneTouch 10.16G features and performance
The Alcatel OneTouch 10.16G is a little bit more modern than your typical basic mobile phone. To start with, it features a full colour display that is easy on the eyes. Measuring 1.8” diagonally, the colour display has a resolution of 128 x 160 pixels. This gives a nice clarity and sharpness to any text or images that appear on the screen.
The mobile phone shows the time, day and date on the screen, along with other essential information such as the battery status. The battery has a small 400mAh capacity but if you are comparing this against a smartphone, you should remember that the phone doesn’t use a lot of power since it isn’t powering a large touchscreen display. Left in standby, the OneTouch 10.16G will go for nearly a week (160 hours) without needing to be re-charged. Should you need to make a very long call, then the battery will sustain a call of up to 3 hours.
The ringer volume is very loud and you can choose from a variety of ring tones. These include polyphonic ring tones, which have greater depth and are a little more musical. You can of course, switch call and text message notifications to silent and instead the phone will subtly vibrate to alert you.
Should you want to make a hands-free call, then you can activate the loudspeaker and continue the call while the phone is placed in your lap or close by on a table. This is a very useful feature if you need to make notes during a call, with pen and paper.
Other useful features include a calculator, currency converter, alarm clock and a bright torch that can light the path ahead of you or shine light on your locks and keys. The OneTouch 10.16G also features a FM radio and music player, as well as a voice recorder that can be used to dictate notes, reminders or conversations.
The Alcatel OneTouch 10.16G brings the mobile phone basics in a pleasing form. The colour display and well spaced keys makes this phone one of the easiest to use.
