Top Apps to Aid Sleep

Research shows that most healthy adults need between 7.5 to 9 hours of sleep each night to function at their best, however according to the National Institutes of Health, the average adult sleeps less than seven hours per night. A lack of sleep may drastically affect your mood, energy, concentration, and ability to handle stress.

Luckily we have dug out some handy mobile apps for iPhone and Android which aim to help you get a restful night’s sleep.

Pzizz (Android, iOS)

This free app helps user’s drift to sleep through a combination of music, words, sound effects and beats, which help you de-stress and re-energize. Users have the freedom to alter the volume levels and set a listening time of the soundtrack to achieve their desired effects. Pzizz generates a unique sleeping soundtrack from its built-in media library with over 10 billion possible audio combinations, so each night is unique and individual to you.

Sleep Genius (Android, iOS)

Sleep Genius claims to be “the most scientifically designed sound programme for the world today”, which was developed by sound experts helping NASA astronauts sleep. The customised sleep music helps users drift to sleep, while the “Revive Cycle Alarm” is designed to give a gradual wakeup, rather than jolting you awake. The app is free, however in-app purchases unlocks premium features.

Relax & Sleep Well Hypnosis (Android, iOS)

This app focuses on meditation and self-hypnosis to send user’s minds and bodies to sleep. Guided by British hypnotherapist Glenn Harrold, meditation and hypnosis tracks are designed to relax users, whereas In-app purchases focus on different objectives such as lucid dreaming, building self-esteem and even weight loss.

SleepBot (Android, iOS)

SleepBot is a free app that tracks your sleep activity in order to help you get a good night’s rest and wake you up at just the right time. The app uses an accelerometer (a tool that measures the acceleration of a moving or vibrating body) to determine when the best time to trigger the alarm is, within the time period you have set on the app. Other features include a sleep log, and information about smart sleeping habits.

So, there you have it, whether you want to meditate, listen to soothing music, or be woken up at your bodies optimum time, there is an app to help you maintain or improve your sleeping patterns.
