Free Educational Apps for Kids

Kids love to be entertained, and if you let them, they will play games all day long. If they are constantly borrowing your phone to play on a game app, or even if they play games on their own phone, there’s a better way, a way that will keep them fascinated and entertained – and will also help in their education too.

There are many free educational apps designed for kids. Some are about science, some on maths, and some even concentrate on improving your child’s English skills. Unlike a classroom environment where teaching methods tends to bore children, an educational app puts the child in control and leads them through the subject in a way that keeps them interested and satisfied. And of course, they learn a lot of useful stuff too.

Take a look at your phone’s app store and you will see that there are educational apps available for free for children as young as one. For example, children can practice counting objects, identifying colours and comparing objects to see if they are longer or shorter, and it will all seem like a game, rather than learning.

Older children can progress to more complicated, but equally fun-filled educational apps that help to expand their understanding of English, science, maths and much more. Whilst blasting space invaders, is undoubtedly fun for the kids of today, playing an educational app that actually teaches them something worthwhile can also be enjoyable for young impressionable minds.

One of the greatest skills you can give your child is another language. That may seem difficult to do if you don’t actually live in or visit another country, but there are free educational apps that will do the job for you.

For example, if you plan to spend a few weeks in France, Spain or Italy, or wherever, during the summer holidays, you could install a free app for learning the language of the country you will be visiting. The fun part could be the whole family getting together in the evenings and learning the basics of the language together. When you arrive at your holiday destination, your child will already have the confidence – and skills to try speaking the language to local people in shops and at visitor attractions.

There are free apps available for both the Android and iOS platforms, so whatever kind of phone you have, there are edutainment apps available, just waiting for you to pick them up. Giving your child a positive education is invaluable, and if it all feels like fun, your child will love the experience.
