11 tips to boost your Android battery life
A mobile phone doubles as the best personal assistant you can have at your fingertips. The better you treat your smartphone, the better service it will provide to you. The amount of power used varies depending on the purpose as well as the amount of time it has been used since its last charge.
You are able to increase your phone battery life so that your battery will last for a long time between charges. Here are 11 tips to increase mobile battery life.
1. Use extra power saving mode
Go to Settings, choose Power Saving and follow the choices there to use extra power saving mode.
2. Get rid of the apps running in the background
Access your recent apps (just hold down the Home key) and swipe the apps off the screen.
3. Remove unnecessary home screen widgets and live wallpaper
Open the Settings app and scroll down to Application Manager. There are three tabs -- Downloaded, Running, & All. Look for Live Wallpaper under All. Tap it and then choose Uninstall.
To clear out some of the home screen widgets, hold down a finger on an empty space on the home screen. A window will pop open. Look for Widgets – it might list this as Apps and Widgets. Tap on that choice. Tap and hold your finger on the widget you want to remove, a slider with a trashcan will appear. Slide the widget into the trash can.
4. Turn down brightness & turn off automatic brightness
In Settings, choose Display and then Brightness. If automatic brightness is checked, uncheck it. You can then choose your own level of brightness.
5. Update your apps
Open the Google Play Store app. Tap the Settings icon. (It looks like 3 horizontal lines). Scroll down to Settings and select Auto-update apps and choose auto updates. It is a good idea to choose to update them only over Wi-Fi.
6. Turn off some of your smart features if you do not need them
Check the smart features you have and if you don't need them, turn them off.
7. Only use genuine batteries
Genuine batteries are made specifically for that model of phone and they respond properly to the phone.
8. Your Bluetooth, WIFI, GPS and 4G data should not be activated 24/7
These features use battery power and you only need them turned on when you need to use them.
9. Switch off vibrate function
Unless you are in a place where you want to get a message or phone call without disturbing others, there is no need for the phone to vibrate. Go to Settings, choose Sound and look for Device Vibration where you can set your preferences.
10. Uninstall unnecessary apps
Go to Settings, choose Application Manager, Downloaded and scroll to the app you want to uninstall and tap on it. A window will open with the choice to Uninstall. Tap on Uninstall.
11. Try to keep your phone in a cool place
Avoid storing your phone near heat. Keeping it cool will increase your battery life.
