How do I unlock my iPhone for use with Asda Mobile?
If you purchased a locked handset, the safest way of unlocking your phone is to call the network you purchased the phone from and ask them to unlock it. (Asda Mobile are unable to unlock phones from any network) Whether a charge will apply and how fast they’ll unlock it depends on the networks policy.
If you purchased an unlocked handset, this should work with any network SIM. If you have an iPhone and find that it has locked to the network you have been using you can follow these steps to unlock it, this is a feature of the handset and not always something controlled at network level.
Here are the steps to unlock your iPhone from your previous network: -
- Remove your SIM card and insert the new one.
- Set up your iPhone again.
If you don't have another SIM card to use, use these steps to finish unlocking your iPhone: -
- Back up your iPhone.
- After you make a backup, erase your iPhone.
- Restore your iPhone from the backup you just made.
You might see this message in iTunes or on your device: "The SIM card inserted in this iPhone does not appear to be supported. Only compatible SIM cards from a supported carrier may be used to activate iPhone. Please insert the SIM card that came with your iPhone or visit a supported carrier store."
If you see this message, use these steps: -
- Restore your iPhone to factory settings.
- Restore your iPhone from a backup.
It may be worth checking with your original network to make sure it’s not still locked at a network level.
Just so you know, Asda Mobile do not lock phones to the network level at all. So if Asda Mobile was your original network and your iPhone appears to be locked when you have tried a different network SIM, this is likely to be the handset that has locked itself to the network it has been used on and these steps should resolve it.
